News 27-23Branch News – Sunday 9 July Week 27, 2023 - - - - - - Coming Events in brief Note ** means see below for more details.
Verse “Victorious Spirit Flame through the weakness Of faint-hearted Souls. Burn up self-seeking. Kindle compassion, So that selflessness, The life stream of Humanity, May hold sway As source of Spiritual rebirth.” Rudolf Steiner, 20 September 1919 ---------------------------------- Conversations. Anthroposophy, Culture and Spirit. Since we began this initiative in 2020, there have been 25 Conversation gatherings where members and friends have shared their passions or parts of their lifes’ journeys. The aim has been to get to know each other better and to enhance a warmth within our Society. Especially at the beginning we often heard from the speakers that they had been in this district for many years or decades and this was the first time they had been asked to speak. It has been a valuable experience for all concerned and we are very grateful to those who have contributed or listened - both participants being equally important. We have decided, however, that the time has come for these Conversations gatherings to metamorphose. Best wishes, Bernie and Diana ---------------------------------------------- ARTISTIC GEOMETRY starting Saturday 15 July. In his childhood, Rudolf Steiner was overjoyed to discover Geometry because in it he found ‘pure ideas’. A circle and a straight line are pure, universal ideas – they do not derive from the observation of nature. “Here one is permitted to know something which the mind alone, through its own power, experiences.” There are two sides to what we do: Robin Bacchus is offering a series of Artistic Geometry courses on the Saturdays of July [15, 22, 29] from 2 to 4pm in the Art Room in the Centre. Please register your interest with Robin on 8778936 If you have them, please bring a compass, long ruler, mechanical pencil, eraser, and coloured pencils. (I have equipment if you don’t.) ----------------------------------------- Parcival Saga Ineke Mulder will continue her explorations of the Parcival saga and its relevance for our times. This event is to farewell Hans and Ineke von Florenstein Mulder who soon will be moving to Christchurch. We would like to acknowledge all the gifts Hans and Ineke have shared with us in so many Anthroposophical endeavours since their arrival in Hawkes Bay 50 years ago. All welcome The Initiative Group. ------------------------------------- Starting Tuesday 1 August An esoteric journey through the Old Testament from humanity’s first beginnings to the birth of Christ
Myths of our human beginnings live deeply within us and affect us unconsciously. The ability to directly perceive spiritual events has faded over time especially in westernised humans. The activities of powerful forces which acted on us in our past are not understood and myths have been taken literally.
