End of Year Events:

**Notice:

 Dear members,

Our Summer Festival will be on Sunday, 21st December,
starting with refreshments at 7 pm,

Festival Gathering in the Main Room at 7:30 pm.

In the summer, it is good to look at the wholeness of nature, the four elements, also reflected in the four temperaments of the human being.  We have some light-hearted poems in store for you in the chorus.

We will sing a summer round from the soul calendar together, and you will hear again Benedictus' verse sung by our special group of singers.

Some parts of the programme still need to be confirmed.

The chorus will conclude the evening with “Canticle to the Sun” by St. Francis, a homage to God through the manifestations of the elements of nature and humanity. With music by Julian Pook.

*****

This year we are having a Christmas Celebration, on Wednesday 24th December, starting at 8 pm., with a social gathering for refreshments, in the foyer...

9 pm. Festival Gathering in the Main Room.
People might like to go to a Midnight Service afterwards.

There will be Christmas music, we will hear the Foundation Stone Meditation and then have a conversation, in the Peggy Harris tradition, about:

‘The significance of Christ and the Mystery of Golgotha for our time.’

All are welcome. Please bring a plate to share.

If anyone would like to join the chorus to prepare for these occasions - you are very welcome..! – please let us know.

 With warm regards,

                              Astrid Anderson  and  John Jackson.

 Repairs and Maintenance

We have several jobs that handy members could help with.

1. Kitchen cupboards.  A couple are sticking and are hard to open,  They need planing, sanding and painting.

2. Downpipe and watermain.  Recently we had a plumber fix the watermain near the toby by the footpath.  The work has been covered by gravel which needs to be covered by earth and grass,

The turf with grass could come from a patch of ground of the same size by the rear downpipe on the corner of the Library.  This downpipe has a problem in that it is not connected to a drain, so in heavy rain the water runs under the house, which is not a healthy outcome.  This could be fixed by having a soak hole nearby, filled with pebbles.  Proposal: to dig a hole from where the turf is cut, and fill with small river pebbles.

3. Access Door (to the space under the Foyer from where we removed 160kg of junk a few weeks ago) needs repair and refitting.  Saw, drill, screws and screwdriver required.

Can anyone (or a team) help us with one or more of these jobs?  Please contact me on robin@bacchus.co.nz or 022-398 2805.  We often ask for financial help, but this is another way of contributing that we can recognise.

Regarding Contributions.

Each year, it falls to the Treasurer's lot, the task of asking members to contribute financially.  Although the AGM suggests an annual amount to be asked, based on our expected expenses for the year, the Committee is happy to have members contribute what they can afford, or make contributions in other ways.  Particularly, we would love to have some response to the request, at least to attest that you are still about and active.  We have had many responses, but there are still over 30 members from whom we have heard nothing.  If you are one of those, please let us know your situation; please communicate your assessment of what you can afford or set up an automatic payment!  Communication is golden. Contact:  treas@anthrohb.nz

As we are registered as a Charity, you are eligible to claim a tax refund of one-third of what you pay to us.  You will receive an official receipt for this purpose in early April.
