    Musings on Geometry 6

    Last week, we looked at how 2-D tessellation patterns can change into 3-Dimensional forms and we looked at the Platonic solids. Why are there only five?  Why are they associated with the Greek philosopher, Plato?

    This week, I have made some PowerPoint presentations of the First Goetheanum and its relation to the Pentagram.

    Earlier ones:

     The 'Great Initiate' Pythagoras of Samos.

    Exploring the famous Pythagorean geometrical theorem.

    Tessellations.

    A Response to Social Needs of our Time

    through

    Eurythmy

    The opportunity to explore & experience eurythmy with an awareness of life.

    To hold one's centre amidst life's challenges.

    Activities

    1. Exploring the Geometry of the Pentagram and the Dodecahedron - Robin Bacchus

    The Pentagram is a mystical symbol with an intimate connection to the Golden Ratio, as seen in Greek architecture and Renaissance art.  We will draw a pentagram using only a compass and a straight-edge (in the ancient Greek style), then explore its relation to the Golden Ratio.

    2. The Pentagram and the Sun of Christ - Margaret-Mary Farr

    “At the turning point of Time, The Spirit-Light Entered the stream of Earthly Being….”
    During the painting process, we will be working with the different qualities of light.

    3. The Saturday Rhythm of the Foundation Stone Meditation - Eva-Maria Steinmetz-Urieli

    Pastel Drawing:  Participants will be invited to hear, take in and respond creatively, out of their own imagination, to one aspect of the Foundation Stone Meditation, Saturday Rhythm ( slightly extended). A short introduction to Pastel Drawing will be given. No prior experience with pastel drawing is required. We will reflect on the collective of your creations to glean insights to the meditation.

    Embraced by the Earth

    Radiating to the Spirit of the World

    is the Foundation Stone.

    COMMUNITY NOTICES

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    PanEuRythmy
    FOR the past month a few of us have been meeting and practising the basic exercises of this new art form.
    PanEuRythmy a brief intro;
    PanEuRythmy was developed by Peter Deunov, aka Beinsa Douno in Bulgaria. Pan Eurythmy is practised throughout spring and summer and is comprised of 28 rhythmical graceful movements to music performed out of doors in the morning with the aim of reconnecting with nature: the elementals,  light beings and angels as well as bringing communities together and improving physical and psychic health and well-being.
    Currently we are performing the first 10 exercises with the aim of adding the others as we grow more confident and have the numbers to, hopefully, play our own music and create the different shapes and patterns as we move through the exercises
    We will be meeting next on Saturday 14th Feb at 8:30 am next to the circle garden adjacent to the John Holt Memorial Display House Botanical garden.
    You are welcome to join us
    John and Tara
